Visitors to this area of Knysna seem to bubble with excitement at the close proximity of the Featherbed Nature Reserve, which is also a world heritage site. This particular nature reserve is unlike any other as it has so much to offer and while it appeals to those who want a true African experience, it doesn’t skimp on providing comforts and conveniences to its guests. It is no lie that this reserve has something to offer everyone – young and old. This reserve is found along the Garden route and has five rivers flowing into the lagoon from the Outeniqua Mountains, which are nearby.

The Featherbed Nature Reserve hosts various nature trails and walks (of a variety of difficulty levels to choose from) and those who want to have a little bit more fun can hop on one of the many boats travelling the lagoon. There are guided 4×4 drives up into the reserve where you can stop at various viewpoints to gaze at the stunning beauty that surrounds you. The reserve itself has a great outdoor restaurant that serves delicious meals which makes this the perfect place to go for a leisurely stroll and some lunch, if you are looking for something to do while you holiday in Knysna.

When paying a visit to the reserve you can choose to go it alone, or make use of the various eco-experience packages that are on offer, which can be arranged during your stay at The Turbine Hotel. There are 3 hour and 4 hour experiences, some of which include the buffet lunch, which is quite convenient, especially if you are travelling as a group or family.
