Golfing in Knysna itself takes place at the local Knysna Golf Club, Pezula and Simola, close to all the best hotels in Knysna.
The ever-popular Knysna Golf Club is a great place to share a drink with like-minded locals at the nineteenth hole after your round. This mature, flat parkland course located on the shores of the Knysna Lagoon, provides plenty of challenges in the form of water, trees and wind to test your skills. Look out for a difficult second shot on the par-5 9th hole with its reeds and little stream running across the fairway.
Pezula Golf Club is a magnificent championship course with a links-feel. Designed by Golf Plan, this course boasts incredible views over the Indian Ocean and Knysna lagoon from its cliff top location on the East Head of Knysna. This is a thinking player’s course and it is advisable to reason through every shot to avoid disappointment.
Simola Golf and Country Estate provides players with stunning views through the Knysna Heads and over the Knysna River. Bring your camera along with your golf clubs to make the most of this spectacular location, but pay attention during your round as Jack Nicklaus’ signature abundance of bunkers is very evident on this course. Thankfully, water is a threat on only two holes of your challenging round at Simola Golf and Country Estate.
Nearby, you can test your skills at the prestigious Oubaai Golf Course in George or take on one of the two Gary Player designed Fancourt courses which are open to the public: Montagu and Outeniqua. Scenic Pinnacle Point in Mossel Bay is another upmarket option, as is Goose Valley Golf Club in Plettenberg Bay. 
For a more laid back experience, Plettenberg Bay Golf and Country Club or George Golf Club provide a worthwhile challenge in a less luxurious environment.
