The Leisure Isle Festival, known to locals as the Treasure Isle Festival, is one of the most popular annual events in Knysna, which aims to raise a funds for charity.This year, Hands and Hearts Centre – incorporating Emzini, e’Pap Children Feeding Scheme, Knysna/Sedgefield Hospice, Steenbok Nature Reserve, Vermont Old Age Home and the Knysna Animal Welfare Society (KAWS), all stand to benefit from a portion of the takings.
Apart from supporting these charities, the Leisure Isle Festival is an important shop window for local businesses, featuring locally produced food, art, jewellery, homeware and Christmas décor among other things.
The 2015 festival sees the addition of:
- 6 carefully selected Leisure Isle show gardens
- a new Arts & Crafts in the Park display area
- a vintage car display
Stall bookings for this Knysna event have been open since 1 August and so far over 100 different vendors have confirmed their attendance, selling local products and crafts and entertaining the crowds. The tea garden is back this year, along with the beer and wine bar, and the book sale expects a roaring trade once again. The Knysna Embroidery Guild will be in its usual spot in the Cearn Hall showing novice needle-pointers how it’s done.
The festival takes place on 7 and 8 November this year, and welcomes both locals and visitors to pop in to this ultra-family-friendly Knysna festival.
