The winter chill isn’t all that’s moving in on Thesen Island! Turbine Boutique Hotel is excited to announce the launch of three new and exciting winter menus at the Island Cafe. Chef Ursula Nieuwoudt has been working hard for the past few months, testing new flavour combinations and creating new tastes in order to bring something fresh and new to the banks of the Knysna lagoon.
Inspired by crisp flavours, and fresh herbs, Chef Nieuwoudt’s cuisine takes proudly South African dishes and combines them with international styles and inspirations. Her favourite taste profile at the moment is Moroccan, with its focus on flavourful spices over hot ones. The new menus are teeming with interesting flavours, and delectable choices, and the best part is there’s a great selection, at any time of day. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and the Island Cafe takes this concept seriously. From classic fruit salad and granola, to the Woodburners breakfast with 2 eggs any style, pork/beef sausage, bacon, sautéed mushrooms and fried tomato, the breakfast menu offers all the staple favourites that you need to start your day. All breakfasts are served with a choice of our homemade breads like ciabatta, whole wheat, rye or gluten free bread.
In addition to the much-loved classics, make sure not to miss the salmon potato and feta cakes, and the blueberry crumpets.
The lunch menu boasts wholesome, full flavours to warm you up in the winter months. With a few banting and vegetarian options, Chef Nieuwoudt has made sure there’s something for everyone. The menu also has a number of tasty gluten-free alternatives. Choose from delicious salads, sandwiches, burgers and wraps, as well as hearty mains. The selection is varied enough to suit all preferences, while still maintaining the Island Cafe style.
