For the second year running, Lew Geffen and Sotheby’s International Realty are bringing a feast of visual and performance art to the Garden Route. The Knysna Arts Festival 2016 is back and is bringing another round of art, culture and entertainment to the East Coast.
Running from the 1st to the 9th of October, this unique Knysna festival promises over a week’s worth of unparalleled entertainment. Promoting locally-produced art, and supporting the greater Knysna community and numerous charitable organisations, is what this festival is all about. So if you’re a lover of art, craft and theatre, make sure to stop by this worthwhile event.
On Saturday the 1st of October, the festival opens with a gala evening where the class and culture of the week’s activities will be celebrated over a glass or two. There’s a little something for everyone this year, with a wide range of art displays, performances and educational talks. There’s also ample opportunity to get involved if you’d like to get your creative juices flowing. Take part in one of the many workshops, and learn a new skill, or refine one you already have- all in the name of the arts!
Look out for the the soothing sounds of Cat Simoni as she pays tribute to a trio of greats: Elton John, Freddie Mercury and Billy Joel. Simoni returns to wow South African audiences after a long career entertaining at high-class London venues like The Ritz, Carlton and Mayfair.
Another artist worth pencilling into your schedule is Sue Kemp, whose colourful paintings depicting breathtaking, emotional landscapes are evocative and belong on the top of any art aficionado’s list.
Take a look at the full Visual Art Schedule here to ensure you don’t miss your festival favourites and or any up-and-coming faces on the scene. The Performance Art schedule is equally as impressive, and you’ll find deciding what to see will be the hardest part!
