The 25th of December is fast approaching, and the stress of catering can often get in the way of Christmas cheer. Whether you’re a big family, or a smaller party of friends, time spent in the kitchen is time away from the people you care about. Why not take the hassle out of your Knysna Christmas Lunch, and the clean-up that comes after, and join us for a delectable three course meal at Turbine’s Island Café.
The floor-to-ceiling glass doors of this Knysna restaurant fill the room with light, and guests can take full advantage of the stunning weather that usually makes an appearance on Christmas day. The day will begin with a choice of three starters. Choose from Bobotie Spring Rolls with a mango atchar, a Roasted Butternut with red onion, spinach and baked feta salad with toasted pine nuts and balsamic reduction, or Cucumber Panna Cotta with smoked salmon mousse.
Next up is a delicious Mixed Berry Sorbet palette cleanser- just to make sure you’re ready for the main course!
The mouth-watering main course is a choice of three dishes that are traditional with an edgy spin. Choose from the classic and contemporary Rhubarb and Ginger Glazed Gammon with a potato and cauliflower gratin and buttered asparagus, or you can pay tribute to the American way of doing things with the Orange and Mustard Roast Turkey with walnut and bacon stuffing, otherwise a scrumptious crowd-favourite is the Baked Salmon with smashed potato and salsa verde. After the incredible savory feast, you better hope you have enough room for delightful desserts on offer. If you like something fruity, go for the Raspberry and Passion Fruit Pavlova with a rose and vanilla infused cream. If it’s not Christmas without a homemade apple pie, we’ve got just the dish for you! The Apple Pie Cheese Cake with vanilla ice cream and a butterscotch sauce is a definite showstopper. Last but not least, you can opt for the Mixed Berry Trifle, which is a modern twist to a traditional dish for something extra Christmas-y!
