For all those making their way to Knysna this Easter Weekend, this blog post is for you! To assist you in deciding what to do over the long weekend, we’ve put together a list of events in and around this Garden Route gem. From golf days and theatre productions, to trail runs and sand sculpting at the Sedgefield Slow Festival, there is something for everyone.
Misfit Colour Run – 14 April
Starting at the Steam Whistle Stop in Sedgefield, the 3.5km Misfit Colour Run is a fantastic way for the whole family to get active and have some good old fashioned fun. During this bubbly event, also known as a “Festival of Love”, participants are doused in a rainbow of (100% natural) coloured powders at designated colour stations along the way. The race is untimed and has no prizes or winner, but is rather designed as a way for family and friends from near and far to join together to smile, laugh and simply get the blood flowing. The first 100 entries to the Misfit Colour Run get free goodie bags, so make sure to reserve your spot on 082 306 0509 today.
Sedgefield Slow Festival – 14 – 16 April
A popular event held each Easter in Sedgefield, the Slow Festival celebrates “Family Fun The Way It’s Meant To Be”. Established in 2010, the Sedgefield Slow Festival has continues to grow in leaps and bounds each year. In line with Sedgefield’s declaration as Africa’s first Cittaslow town, the festival emphasizes family values, real experiences and a natural way of life.
On Friday, 14 April, look out for events such as the Sotheby’s Slow Biking Challenge, the Pilipili Slow Fest Fun SUP Race and the Sedgelinks Night Golf Challenge. On Saturday, get ready for the Family Fun 5.5km Trail Run, the renowned Anything That Floats Competition, an outdoor performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and a Music Trivia Evening at the Village Green. Last but not least, on Sunday 16 April, enjoy the Easter Bunny Beach Dash, the Sand Sculping Challenge on Myoli Beach and the Easter Street & Band Parade.
