We are pleased to announce that it’s back to business as usual at The Turbine Hotel & Spa.
Since Wednesday last week, the Turbine operated as a rescue centre for those who had managed to find their way to us. Either because they had been evacuated by emergency services or had sadly lost their homes to the fires. The Turbine welcomed people and pets of every kind – even a Great Dane or two. There was no bed, chair, sofa or floorspace that was not occupied and it was a privilege to put our fully intact building to good use. This is an experience that the Turbine staff will remember forever and although it has been an exceptionally difficult time for Knysna and its people, the way in which the community has come together has been amazing and kept us strong.
Fortunately our hotel, and the rest of Thesen Island, was protected by the ravages of the fires last week. Likewise, there was no damage to the Knysna Waterfront (Quays) and the town centre. So while we will continue to support the rebuilding of our community, we are now back up and running and are ready to welcome our guests that have booked their time with us. All our services including our Spa, Island Cafe Restaurant and the Gastro Pub are running at 100%.
We would also like to confirm that the Annual Knysna Oyster Festival is definitely on and we are looking forward to being a part of it.
Yours sincerely,
Chris Schutte & the Turbine Staff
