Wine Farms in and Around Knysna

South Africa’s Garden Route is known for many things: picturesque scenery, lush wilderness, incredible coastal vistas, modern golf courses, and the country’s most pleasant climate. What few know, however, is that the region is also home to a large number of reputable wine estates.

And lucky for us, many of these scenic Garden Route wine farms are situated near or in Knysna! So why not release your inner wino and explore one or all of the estates listed below?

Packwood Wine Estate

An award-winning wine estate boasting a small vineyard and a working dairy, Packwood is situated in Harkerville, between Plettenberg Bay and Knysna. While the dairy was established in 1998 by owners Peter and Vicky Gent, the vineyard was born in just 2006. Nestled on a gentle slope 330 metres above sea level, the climate here is suitable for growing cool, cultivar wine grapes.

As such, wine varietals produced at Packwood Wine Estate include Sauvingnon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Rose. Vintages, dating back to 2010, can be sampled at the estate from Monday to Friday. While you’re around, make sure to try out their homemade cheese platters using produce from the estate dairy and gardens. Because not much pairs better with wine than cheese.

Wine Sales & Tasting: Monday – Friday (10am – 4pm)
