Sunset Cruise to the Heads

Undeniably the best way to watch the sun go down in Knysna, a boat cruise across the lagoon is an absolute must when visit Knysna. In fact, one of the most popular offerings at the Turbine Water Club is the sunset cruise, which takes place on one of two small motorised pontoon barges. Once out of the harbour, the boat will drift slowly along the edge of the Featherbed Nature Reserve, all the way to the Heads themselves. Along the way, your knowledgeable tour guide will explain the rich history of Knysna, and highlight points of interest. If you’re lucky enough, you might even catch a glimpse of an inquisitive seal or two, dancing in the waves.

Situated in the Goukamma Nature Reserve, Buffalo Bay Beach is the closest to Knysna town and is quickly becoming one of the most-loved beaches along the Garden Route. Part of a 14km stretch of sand, it is flanked by towering sand dunes and lush coastal fynbos. If you’re in the area between July and October, you might even spy bottle nosed or common dolphins surfing the waves.
