Summer has finally arrived along the Garden Route and what better way to celebrate the start of warmer days than with some live music overlooking the lake? This year, Lakeside Lodge and Spa in Sedgefield will be hosting Rocking the Lake in an outdoor amphitheatre extravaganza on Saturday 4 November.
Rocking the Lake is a celebration of the music of the 1980s – rock, pop, punk and dance music that’ll take you right back to the big hair, shoulder pads and spandex that defined an era. This year, Rocking the Lake welcomes local favourites, The WellCast Band, who’ll be performing classic 80s hits like ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ and ‘A Crazy Little Thing Called Love’. The WellCast’s set list includes songs of Guns ‘n Roses, CCR, Roxette and Pat Benatar – just to name a few.
Location
Located just outside of the ‘slow town’ of Sedgefield, the live rock ‘n’ roll concert takes place on the lawns beside the Swartvlei Lagoon. The grassy amphitheatre is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the outside world – offering the chance to relax, soak up the sun and enjoy some nostalgic music along the Garden Route.
Food and drinks
Pack a picnic blanket and bring the kids along for a lazy afternoon celebrating the songs from your teenage years. Beers and award-winning wines from local Benguela Cove Wine Estate will quench your thirst and the street-style food on sale will surely satisfy your appetite. Unfortunately no food and drinks of your own can be brought into the event.
