Food Glorious Food
One of the best things about festivals is often their foodie events and the Knysna Oyster Festival is no exception. Various competitions really added to the excitement of this year’s festival with Pick n Pay’s Fish Braai Competition and the Oyster Shucking and Eating Competition.
The fun didn’t end there for food fanatics as a new event was launched and those holding a PnP Smart Shopper Card were invited to reserve a spot at the Fresh Taste of Pick n Pay where delicious treats were served including oysters with Heinz Hot Sauce and bubbles or wine from Van Loveren, all accompanied by live music.
Various markets were run throughout the event as well as the Knysna Wine Festival which showcased over 200 wines and craft liquors from the esteemed Cape Winelands and all along the Garden Route.
Just a short distance from Knysna is the Bloukrans Bridge, home to the highest bungee jump in the world sitting at a daunting 216 metres high ideal for those who like to live on the wild side of life. As part of the festival, the Momentum Knysna Lagoon Mile Swim and the Harbour2Heads Challenge are exciting events for all water-loving adventurous while yachting, kayaking and gentle cruises around the Knysna lagoon are perfect for those wishing to just enjoy the scenery.
The festival is jam-packed with events for the whole family and is perfect for a week away. One of the busiest time of the year, be sure to book with The Turbine Hotel & Spa early to avoid disappointment!
