The festive season is the perfect time to reconnect with family and friends. Often the question is, what to do? Planning your own event is time-consuming and involves a lot of cleaning up, so we have compiled a list of events in and around Knysna this December. Have a look;
Garden Roots Christmas Festival
Taking place on 15 December 2019 at Sunera Equestrian Estate in Plettenberg Bay, this is a fun-filled family event for all ages. With live music, various stalls, pony rides, puppet shows, and so much more, there’s no better way to get into the Christmas spirit! Tickets are R195 per adult and R75 for children. Thesen Harbour Nights
On the last Thursday of each month, all the restaurants and shops in Thesen Harbour Town come together to create an inspiring evening. As a family-friendly event, there is suitable food and entertainment for all. Within walking distance of the Turbine, venture across for music, art, and fashion from 5 PM onwards.
Robberg Fine Foods Classic Beach Regatta
Take a drive to Plettenberg Bay’s Hobie Beach between 15 and 17 December 2018 to “meet the fleet” when the boats are on the beach or to just witness the striking sight of all the multi-coloured sails in the Bay. Not just a pretty sight, sailors come from all over South Africa to take part in the highly competitive regatta.
Carols By Candlelight
Join the residents of Knysna on 19 December 2018 for an evening of carols accompanied by a choir and band. Attendees are requested to bring a gift that Father Christmas collects and later distributes to the underprivileged children of Knysna. Entry to the event is by donation to the Knysna-Sedgefield Hospice. Don’t forget to buy your own memory candle to be lit during the evening. The festivities will take place on Woodmill Lane in Knysna.
Knysna Blues Festival
Don’t miss out on the fourth edition of the Knysna Blues Festival. featuring world-renowned musicians. The event will commence at 13h00 on 22 December 2018 at Mitchell’s Brewery. Musicians are travelling to Knysna specifically for the show so make sure to get tickets whilst they’re still available! Tickets are R300 per person and available from Quicket.
Polo Pony Parade
Head to Plettenberg Bay on 27 December 2018 to witness the iconic Polo Pony Parade on the main street of the town. This year’s event takes place just before the international match between South Africa and Ireland on 29 December 2018. Featuring both teams as well as an array of polo ponies and their young riders that represent the future of South African polo.
Secret Sunrise
Head to the Beacon Isle Beach bright and early for the Plett edition of Secret Sunrise on 28 December 2018. Pop on your wireless headphones and start the morning dancing to some great tunes. Children of all ages are welcome. This month’s theme is the festive season so don your best, and cheesiest attire, and head to the beach.
Tickets are available on Quicket at R100 early bird, R120 general, and R75 for children under 12.
