The 36th annual Pick ‘n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival kicks off at the end of June in a whirlwind of events and activities stretching over the period 21 to 30 June. The 2019 Knysna Oyster Festival is South Africa’s premium sport and lifestyle festival. This year it will once again offer a programme of unique events for sport lovers, families and adventurers, with an abundance activities spread over a ten day festival. There will be no shortage of fun, and a chance to experience one of the most beautiful, scenic areas in the country. Here’s what you have to look forward to this year:
2019 Knysna Oyster Festival Sporting Events
Saturday, 22 June kicks off with the prestigious Knysna Cycle Tour which is followed by road race events and the Harbour 2 Heads Lagoon Challenge on Sunday, 23 June. The BIG5 Sport Challenge is another festival favourite, where professional and amateur athletes compete against each other over 5 courses which always has spectators on the edge of their seats.

Food and entertainment at the 2019 Knysna Oyster Festival
The most popular food event of the festival, ‘Seafood Wednesday’ allows top notch restaurants the opportunity to showcase their best seafood dishes. Festival-goers can indulge in delicious dishes, take part in the Pick ‘n Pay Fish Braai Competition, Oyster Eating and Shucking Competition and the Pick ‘n Pay Flavours of Knysna oyster showcase. Local restaurants and cafes will have a variety of specials during the festival so be prepared for a food overload.
From live performances, fashion shows, cruises, markets, children events and even a comedy show, the Knsyna Oyster Festival has something for everyone. Parents can enjoy the festival in its entirety thanks to the Momentum Kiddies Area which is a secure play area tailored especially for the little ones. The Fun Fair also has its thrills for both young and old and is open for the duration of the festival.
