The March school holidays are just around the corner and families from across the country will be descending on the beautiful beaches of Knysna. If you’re looking for some summer holiday fun along the Garden Route, keep reading below for some exciting things to do in Knysna and its surrounds these holidays.
Knysna nature trails & walks
Tear your teenagers away from their screens and venture out into the stunning natural landscapes of Knysna with our choice of guided nature walks.
Our Circles in the Forest Trails offers two routes: a short 3.1km circle route and a 9km circle route. The effort level during this walk ranges from easy to moderate, making this pleasant for anyone over the age of 5.
The 9km hike is included in The Knysna Experience.
Radical Raptors
Located about 5km before Plettenberg Bay, Radical Raptors is a rehabilitation centre that aims at community awareness and the rescue, rehabilitation and release of birds of prey.
The centre provides facilities for the treatment of injured birds of prey and suitable secure housing for birds undergoing treatment.
Visitors are invited to attend flying displays: a variety of trained non-releasable birds of prey are free flown around and to you as an opportunity for you to spectate, participate and photograph these magnificent birds in natural surroundings. Weather permitting.

Kayaking
Kayaking is possible with the Turbine Waterclub. Our kayak hires are not guided tours. Clients may explore anywhere on the Knysna lagoon in the course of the rented period. We have single and double kayaks available and we provide life jackets and paddles.
Hire times: 09h00 – 17h00
1 hour: R130 pp | 2 hours: R200 pp
Knysna Lagoon Sunset Cruise
The sunset cruise with the Turbine Waterclub does a round trip on the Knysna lagoon, with a brief tour of the channels of Thesen Island.
The cruise takes you past Brenton-on-Lake where guests may see deer, fish eagles, makes a turn at the Heads before heading back to the Turbine Waterclub.
The cruise includes a bottle of house wine (for the parents) and a snack platter per couple.

Bicycle Hire
Get out and about for some exercise with our bicycle hire options available at the Turbine Water Club.
Clients may cycle anywhere in Knysna. These are not guided tours. Knysna and its pristine forests, mountains and coastal routes make it an unforgettable biking destination.
If clients choose to hire the bicycles and cycle in the Knysna forest, this will be permitted at their own risk. Helmets and locks are provided.

Dolphin Paragliding
Explore the magic of the Garden Route from above with a Dolphin Paragliding tandem flight.
Combining the thrill of soaring over the landscapes with years of experience and the ultimate in safety measures, this activity is not to be missed. Relax and enjoy breath-taking views while your instructor handles the flying.
