The 2022 Knysna Cycle Tour is a two-day cycling event in Knysna, along South Africa’s Garden Route. Taking place on 2 and 3 July 2022 during the much-anticipated Knysna Oyster Festival, it looks to be another fantastic edition of this historic event.
Day 1 – Saturday 02 July
Perfect for more experienced athletes, day 1 sees cyclists traversing either 42km or 82km circular mountain bike routes through the lush Knysna forest. Both the start and the finish are at the top of Simola Hill. The 42km option boasts an elevation of 1331m while the 82km option will climb as high as 2332m. After a day of challenges, sweat and determination, riders end up at ‘The Farm’ where food and drinks can be purchased and prizegiving will take place at 13:00.
Day 2 – Sunday 03 July
A tad more family-oriented, day 2 of the Knysna Cycle Tour will consist of a 12km non-technical route, a 35km technical single track for adventurous cyclists, and a Fun Pump Track eliminator suitable for all age categories. Riders will start and finish at the ever-popular Garden Route Trail Park near Sedgefield which is nestled in the shadow of the awe-inspiring Outeniqua Mountains and Karatara River Gorge.
The Knysna Cycle Tour has become a bucket list entry for local and international mountain bikers courtesy of the incredible views, demanding routes and natural beauty of the area. Suitable for advanced mountain bikers and those new to the sport, there is truly something for everyone.
