Holidays are a time to let loose and try new things – like cruising down shaded roads and singletrack in the Knysna forest on a Monster Mountain Scooter!
This Knysna activity is constantly ranked among the best local experiences on TripAdvisor and it’s easy to see why. Not only does this excursion offer you the chance to take in the Garden Route National Park from a totally unique perspective, but the Swiss-designed scooters are (in our opinion) pretty cool, too.

What to Expect
As far as Knysna activities go, this one blends all the best aspects of spending time on the Garden Route: Getting outdoors, admiring the forest, having a laugh and spending quality time with your loved ones. After booking your spot, a minibus will transport you and your group to the starting point of the experience – high in the hills of the Garden Route National Park.
After a quick briefing and securing your safety gear (to be provided), you’ll set off on a thrilling downhill ride, carving down winding trails and zooting down massive slopes. Your route will wind through beautiful forest single-track and fast-paced gravel roads. As the entire excursion is downhill, the thrill remains throughout!

Fun fact: These scooter bikes are the same as those used in skiing towns in the Alps during summer. When the snow is gone, the slopes are the ideal terrain for mountain scooters! These scooters are not motorised, making the experience an eco-friendly tourist activity.

Know Before You Go
Solo riders must be 10 years or older and able to balance on a bicycle. Children between 3 and 9 years old are allowed to accompany an adult on their scooter. All scooters can handle one adult with a child passenger.
Starting Point: 23 Sawtooth Lane, Thesen Island, Knysna (Heads Up Coffee & Co.)
Duration: 2-hour guided experience; it is best to arrive 30 minutes before your tour starts to fill out paperwork, etc.
Cost: R600 per solo rider; R300 per child (3 – 9 years)
