Our Hotel’s Family Amenities
The Turbine Hotel & Spa is located on the waterways of Thesen Island in an old repurposed power station.
Not only have we been praised for our intuitive service and luxurious accommodations, but we have also been hailed as one of the most unique stays on the Garden Route.
Outside, the hotel’s silhouette makes a striking impression. This is carried through to the interior, where old bits of the power station have been retained and are boldly displayed with bright pops of colour and the clever use of paint to highlight machinery. For instance, our foyer has a perspex floor that gives visitors a peek into the underbelly of the building; you’ll find many design elements like this that add a touch of wonder to your stay.
Children, in particular, will always have something to marvel at and, if we achieve our aim, will always remember “that time we stayed in an old power station on the canals.”

Our Luxury Rooms feature a sleeper couch, accommodating 2 adults and 1 child under the age of 12 comfortably. For larger families or those wanting a bit more space, we offer three sets of adjoining rooms that consist of a Luxury Room and a Standard Room.
These adjoining rooms share a main entrance door in the passage, allowing children to move freely between the two rooms while still enjoying the comfort of separate spaces. This arrangement is perfect for families looking for flexibility during their stay. Simply request an adjoining room when booking and we will leave the interleading door unlocked.
For families planning a longer visit, our Lagoon and Canal Suites, located next to the hotel, are ideal. Each suite is equipped with a sleeper couch, accommodating 2 adults and 1 child, and features a full kitchen and a gas braai.
With these amenities, you can enjoy home-cooked meals or a family braai night on the canals!
