The Turbine Boutique Hotel and Spa was an ambitious project which transformed an old power station into a unique 5 star boutique Knysna hotel. All the old machinery which was used in this power station has been lovingly restored and forms an integral part of the hotel’s aesthetics.
The hotel offers guests a choice of seventeen standard rooms, six luxury rooms, a honeymoon suite, and two self-contained suites adjacent to the hotel. Each of the rooms provide luxurious amenities such as a flat screen TV, Wi-fi, a fully-stocked mini bar, and a tea and coffee station.
The 90-seater Island Café restaurant at the Turbine Boutique Hotel and Spa overlooks the stunning canal, and serves up extraordinary dishes from a diverse a la carte menu. The Gastro Pub and Deck, on the other hand, allows guests to enjoy watching the sun go down, whilst sipping on something from the extensive drinks menu, and filling up on an imaginative pub-style variety of snacks.
The Turbine Spa is one of the finest on the Garden Route, offering guests a wide variety of relaxing treatments from massages to facials and a Rhassoul Steam Room.
Another popular feature is the Turbine Adventure Centre, providing guests with the best Knysna water-based activities, including pontoon cruises, fishing charters, whale watching and kayak hire as well as adventures on land with guided forest tours and bicycle hire.
Be prepared for this experience!! The conversion of this hotel from being the electricity generation plant for the region exceeds all expectations. The architect and the interior designer must has been an inspired partnership to create such a stylish, spacious and unique hotel. We were truly bowled over by the renovation of the old turbines, gantries, machinery of all sorts. Mix that with fabulous decor and furniture, high end artwork and great use of design in every respect and you begin to get the picture. Unlike many boutique hotels, this is spacious and airy. Lovely room. Great pool area. Right in the heart of the activity in Thesen Harbour. Great breakfasts and dinner. Finally the most important thing – all the staff who made our stay exceptional. You were the best! Three nights in heaven! Thank you.
