With an emphasis on natural light, each room is designed in such a way that it accentuates the hotel’s exquisite placement, and therefore effortlessly embraces both the natural beauty and historical significance of this one of a kind hotel. Above all else, the Turbine Boutique Hotel and Spa strives to combine elegance and flair with ultimate comfort and relaxation, to ensure each guest is left feeling like they’ve experienced the best of the best accommodation in Knysna
The rooms are spread throughout the six different wings that make up this stylish boutique hotel. These include the Garden Wing, the Lagoon Wing, the Lookout Suites, the Regatta Wing, the Forest Wing, and the Thesen Wing, and each features decor to offset one of the many fascinating aspects of the greater Knysna area.
For example, the décor of the Lagoon Wing makes use of soft aquatic hues like turquoise, and silver, and pale greens of the eelgrass and reeds that line the famous estuary, while in the Regatta Wing you’ll find tributes to the nautical arts with yachting flags, rowers, seafaring maps, masts and schooners printed on silks and natural linens.
All the artwork displayed on the walls of the Turbine Boutique Hotel and Spa is locally produced, and the hotel takes great pride in supporting its heritage. This can be seen in the Forest Wing, where the colours and prints of Clinton Friedman, a famous South African Botanical Photographer, are the inspiration for the decor. Keep an eye out for his close-ups of leaves, seeds, pods, forest trees and the mysterious Knysna elephants. Another example of this is the Thesen Wing, where tribute is paid to the island itself. The décor highlights Knysna’s icons, it utilises the colours of the forest, and it includes imagery of the much-loved Knysna Loerie.
All rooms boast large, comfortable king-sized beds, and a wide variety of convenient amenities, making this a prime spot for accommodation in Knysna. The en-suite bathrooms are equipped with a separate shower and bath, two basins and heated towel rails. What’s more, the rooms are secured with a Ving card access system, granting guests a sense of security and relaxation.

“We were fortunate to spend the week of my Birthday at The Turbine, and I can honestly not find any fault in the hotel. The staff were professional, but also familiar enough to make you feel like you are home. The beds, super comfortable, the pillows, wonderful and the showers and baths, always hot and easy to work out, as someone who stays in a lot of hotels, this attention to detail is always very important to me. Try the restaurant, the feed is sublime, and the pool overlooking the canals was not crowded and warm. I will be spending every birthday in lovely Knysna from now on, and will always choose the Turbine to stay at.”
